The University of Maine track and field team recorded four top 10 finishes at the Sean Collier Invitational, which took place on April 17 and April 18 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The meet featured strong performances from the Black Bears across several distance events. In the men’s 1500-meter race, Eli Palmer finished ninth with a time of 3:53.96. Teammates Dan Knight and Matt Firlings followed closely behind in twelfth and fifteenth places, respectively.
Owen Transue was Maine’s sole competitor in the men’s 5000 meters, finishing eleventh with a time of 14:59.15. The team saw notable results in the men’s 10000 meters as Adam Bendetson claimed second place with a time of 30:16.78, Connor Daigle finished fourth at 30:27.63, and Harry Grenier secured sixth place with a finish time of 30:49.02.
In the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase, Jack Burns earned second place by completing his race in 9:26.82 while Kyle McClellan came in fourth at 9:37.83.
The Black Bears will return to competition on Thursday, April 23 as they travel to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays.
