Following a three-week action break, Colby returned to the court this afternoon to take on in-state opponents, the University of Southern Maine. The Mules looked to continue the strong season that they are having. Colby trailed at halftime 45-43 but fought back to take the 87-80 victory. The victory puts Colby at 11-1 and drops the Huskies to 7-5.

The Mules found themselves rusty from the break in the first half as they committed ten turnovers but did not find any shooting rust as they hit nearly half of their first-half shots. Lucas Green led Colby in the first half with 13 points and seven points from Max Poulton.

The second half saw the Mules struggle to shoot the ball, but they were able to limit their turnovers and forced the Huskies into bad shots. Strong defense and rebounding allowed Colby to control the game’s pace and let them do what they do best. Will King led the Mules in the second half with 16 points, while Green chipped in another nine in addition to nine from Noah Tyson.

Colby stays on the road as they face off against Maine Maritime Academy on January 2nd at 3 pm.
