The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s Bureau of Parks and Lands is inviting the public to experience “17th Century Days” at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site in New Harbor, Maine. This event, organized by Site Manager Neill De Paoli, will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, July 13, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see reconstructions of historical vessels such as the Virginia and the shallop Jane Stevens. There will also be a Wabanaki birch bark canoe on display. Attendees can meet interpreters who will demonstrate colonial-era trades and lifeways including shipbuilding and trade with Indigenous peoples.
“We are thrilled to present the 17th Century Days at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site,” said Neill De Paoli. “This immersive experience offers a glimpse into Maine’s fascinating history.” Matt Blazek from Maine’s First Ship added that “Pemaquid is a landmark in our state’s coastal story.”
Admission to the event is free, but there is a small fee for access to certain exhibits. For more information or planning assistance, contact Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site or visit their website.
