The United States District Court for the District of Maine announced on Apr. 17 that it will host the 2026 Virtual POWER Act event on May 20 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The court joins fifty-nine other federal district courts in presenting this program, which focuses on the role of pro bono representation and advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

The event aims to highlight how legal support can make a difference in the lives of those affected by these issues. Organizers say there is no fee to attend the virtual program.

The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar has approved this event for one continuing legal education credit. Those interested in receiving CLE credit are instructed to email lindsey_tully@med.uscourts.gov.

Registration is required for participation in the virtual session. Once registered, attendees will receive a link approximately two days before the program begins.

This initiative reflects ongoing efforts within federal courts to promote access to justice and support for vulnerable populations through pro bono work.
