A man from Hebron, Maine, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland for distributing and possessing child pornography. Steven Parker, 47, received a five-year prison sentence followed by eight years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $25,000 in restitution to victims whose images he possessed. Parker pleaded guilty on September 15, 2025.
Court records show that Parker sent a video file containing child sexual abuse material to an undercover agent through a messaging application. In August 2024, the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit (MSPCCU) and the FBI executed a search warrant at his home and seized multiple digital devices with hundreds of image and video files depicting child sexual abuse material. During an interview with investigators, Parker admitted to accessing, viewing, and distributing such material online.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and MSPCCU.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), there were 36 million reports of possession, manufacture, or distribution of child sexual abuse materials in 2023. The public can report incidents involving these crimes through NCMEC’s website at https://report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678. Those in Maine seeking help for sexual assault or abuse can contact the statewide helpline at 1-800-871-7741.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources.
