Congressman Jared Golden, who represents Maine’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, marked Labor Day with a series of social media posts reflecting on labor rights and public service.
On August 29, 2025, Golden posted about labor laws and union activity, writing, “At a time when the administration and large corporations feel emboldened to skirt labor laws and attack unions, Labor Day is another opportunity to call out their awful agenda. I’ve spent my life fighting alongside workers — whether it’s visiting their jobs to talk about their”.
Three days later, on September 1, 2025, he addressed workers directly: “To all the workers of Maine, Happy Labor Day! Today, we celebrate the achievements of the labor movement and the resilience of workers everywhere. As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, I’ll never stop fighting for workers in Congress.”
Later that same day, Golden reflected on his experience with Bill Diamond during his tenure in state government: “I knew Bill Diamond from my time in the Maine Legislature. What always struck me was his commitment to public service. He was old-school. He cared about doing his homework and doing what he thought was right. He worked with others, sought compromise, and treated those around him”.
Jared Golden has served as U.S. Representative for Maine’s 2nd District since 2019 after succeeding Bruce Poliquin. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Maine House of Representatives from 2014 to 2018. Born in Lewiston in 1982 and currently residing there at age 40, Golden is an alumnus of Bates College.
