The University of Maine baseball team completed a weekend sweep of UAlbany on May 16, concluding their regular season with an 11-6 victory.
This win marks the end of the regular season for the Black Bears, who finished with a record of 21-30 overall and a 14-10 record in conference play. The game featured strong offensive performances and solid pitching from multiple players.
Hunter St. Denis opened scoring for Maine with a two-run home run in the first inning, marking his tenth home run of the season. Juju Stevens contributed significantly by hitting a three-run double in the second inning. In the seventh inning, Albert De La Rosa drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run, followed by Quinn Murphy’s bases-clearing double that added three more runs. Nic Pepe capped off the six-run seventh frame with a two-RBI single.
On the mound, Thomas Stabley started and pitched three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three batters. Tommy Martin provided relief over two and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on five hits. Brennan Rumpf earned his second win of the season after pitching two and one-third innings in relief. Sebastian Holt closed out the game with a scoreless final inning.
Looking ahead, Maine is set to face UAlbany again during the opening day of the America East Tournament on Wednesday, May 20. The matchup is scheduled for no earlier than 5 PM as they aim to continue their postseason campaign.
