The University of Maine Black Bears men’s track and field team competed at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia from April 23 to April 25.
The event is considered an important competition for collegiate athletes, providing opportunities to test their skills against strong opponents.
On Thursday, Charlie Collins placed 31st in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:11.06, while Ryker Brown finished ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.72 meters (189 feet, 4 inches). On Friday, Conor Morin took fourteenth place in the triple jump with a mark of 14.58 meters (47 feet, 10 inches).
Saturday’s relay events saw Cole Martin, AJ Sebastien, Max Shapiro and Andrew Card finish second overall in the men’s 4×100-meter relay with a time of 41.37 seconds. In the men’s 4×400-meter relay, Nolan Feyler, Spencer Stadnicki, Ryan Fernstrom and Andrew Card secured sixth place overall by finishing in a time of 3:18.02.
The team will return to competition on May 9 and May 10 at the America East Outdoor Championships.
