Maine Black Bears to host UAlbany in final regular season softball series

The University of Maine softball team will host UAlbany for a three-game America East series on May 1 and May 2 at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex, according to an April 28 announcement. All games will be streamed on ESPN+, with a doubleheader scheduled for Friday and a single game on Saturday.

This series marks the end of the regular season for both teams. Fans can access up-to-date game times, statistics, and streaming links at GoBlackBears.com/softballschedule.

Maine enters the matchup with a historical record of 13-49 against UAlbany. Last year, Maine lost all four contests against the Great Danes, including three regular season games and one in the America East Tournament. The two teams first met in 2002.

UAlbany arrives with an overall record of 21-18 and is currently 10-7 in conference play. The Great Danes have six players batting over .300 this season. Katie Parisi leads her team with a .370 average, as well as team-highs in hits (47) and runs batted in (34). On the mound, Hayley Wieczerzak holds a 3.19 earned run average over 90 innings pitched.

Several Black Bears have achieved career-highs this year as they approach their final weekend of play. Keira Inman has set personal bests in hits (30), doubles (4), home runs (6), and RBI (26). Madison Hand also reached new highs with hits (16), home runs (3), and RBI (17). Other players such as Maggie Helms, Eviana Robles, and Morgan Pool have posted their own single-season bests across multiple categories.

Looking ahead, Maine will host the America East Softball Championship from May 6 to May 9 at their home field.
