The University of Maine softball team lost two America East games to UAlbany on May 2 at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex.
These games marked the end of the regular season for Maine. The results are significant as they impact the team’s momentum and seeding ahead of the upcoming conference championship.
In Game 46, after a scoreless first inning, both teams combined for nine runs in the second. UAlbany scored six runs, while Maine answered with three, including one run driven in by Kaelyn Larkin and two by Neve Adams. UAlbany added another run each in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead to 8-3 before scoring three more times in the fifth. Maine was unable to close the gap, resulting in an 11-3 defeat.
Maine now holds a record of 13 wins and 51 losses all-time against UAlbany. Neve Adams led offensively for Maine, going two-for-three with two runs batted in and one double. Kaelyn Larkin, Francesca Guerrera, and Madison Hand also recorded hits during the game.
Looking ahead, Maine will host the America East Softball Championship from May 6 through May 9 at their home field. The Black Bears are seeded fifth and will play against second-seeded Binghamton Bearcats at 1:30 p.m. on opening day.
