Small business owners in Maine are being asked to share their experiences with the state’s Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) law. The National Federation of Independent Business – Maine is seeking feedback from small employers on how the law has impacted their operations so far, as well as any concerns they may have about its implementation when employees begin taking paid leave starting in May 2026.

“How is the Maine Paid Family & Medical Leave law working so far in your business? We need your help in advising state officials and other key people about how small employers are being affected to date by the sweeping paid leave law, and what concerns you have going forward when employees begin taking paid leave as soon as May 2026.”

Business owners are encouraged to participate in a survey that will go live this week, allowing them to provide input that could be shared with state officials and other stakeholders.

“Please use this LINK to answer a few questions when the survey goes live this week..”

The organization aims to ensure that policymakers understand the effects of PFML on small businesses across Maine.

Thank you.
