Southern Maine Community College Seawolves Men’s Basketball Win Final Game of Season

The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball won its United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament consolation game against the 7-seeded Vikings from Villa Maria College, 76-70, on Tuesday, Mar. 14.

The Seawolves took an early lead and maintained their advantage throughout the game, ahead six points at the break. Villa Maria produced a stronger second half but SMCC was able to match its 38-point performance from the 20 minutes prior.

Sophomore captain Jack Pzyynski (Saco, Maine) finished his Seawolves’ career with 22 points, 8-12 from the field. This was Pyzynski’s sixth 20-plus scoring performance of the season.

Bryant Rosa and Rhalon Bragg combined for 23 points for the Vikings.

Head Coach Matt Richards was happy to end the season on a good note, “Really proud of our guys collecting their 20th win on the season. It’s always good to end the year with a win.”

The Seawolves conclude their season at 20-10 overall—collecting 20 wins for the fourth consecutive season.
