President Biden’s inaugural speech encapsulated what the nation needs. It was a reminder to start anew and stop labeling each other as competition.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) was glad to hear Biden’s address and said that it "struck the right themes of unity, a call for us to come together, to stop viewing one another as adversaries but rather as fellow Americans," The Hill reported.
“History, faith, and reason show the way, the way of unity,” Biden said in his speech. We can see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors. We can treat each other with dignity and respect. We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature.”
Collins, who previously worked with Biden when he was a senator from Delaware is also excited to work again with him and is optimistic to move forward on the efforts for the nation’s good.
"Many of us have long-standing relationships with him," she said. "I served with him for many years as fellow senators, and I worked with him when he was vice president."
“So I stand ready to work with him to advance common goals. We'll see what his agenda is," Collins added, according to NPR.
