Director of the National Institutes of Health Francis Collins came to former President Donald Trump’s defense when he said that the previous administration deserves credit for coming up with Operation Warp Speed.
The public support for Trump came after the Biden Administration criticized the former president for his lack of plans and actions for curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Collins went on to commend Alex Azar, the former secretary of Health and Human Services, saying that he also deserves credit for pushing the Operation Warp Speed agenda.
Collins spoke with Axios and told them that the Trump Administration didn’t deserve the criticism that the Biden Administration is hurling against it. He added that the previous administration, despite its flaws, was able to “get all parts of the government together in an unprecedented way to test up to six vaccines in rigorous trials, and to do this at-risk manufacturing, so that if any of those trials happened to work, you would already have doses ready to go into arms.”
