Colby College Mules Defeat Trinity, Lose to Hamilton in Their Second Meet of the Weekend

The Colby College Men and Women's Swim team battled against Trinity College and Hamilton College on the road after their home meet yesterday. The men took down both teams with a final score of 211 to 68 over Hamilton and 209 to 84 over Trinity. The women also capitalized beating Trinity 183-114 but fell short to Hamilton 131.5 to 160.5. 

Starting with the team events, the Aqua Mules took the win in both 200 medley relays. The women set a time of 1:49.04 (Gabriella Landau, Kellen Mottl, Ann Tolan, Lily Moy) while the men placed a time of 1:36.47 (Brandon Xiong, Alexander MacLennan, Neil Mortimer, Shaun Kronenwetter). The men also finished first (Mortimer, Carson Rehkopf, Xiong, Niels Wu - 3:12.03) and second (MacLennan, Ben Spragg, Ethan Chang, Nate Cordick - 3:15.81) in the 400 freestyle relay.

As for individual events, the men started it off by grabbing first and second in the 200 freestyle (Rehkopf - 1:48.01, Cordick - 1:48.99). Cordick later got a first place of his own in the 500 freestyle (4:57.65). In the 50 backstroke the Colby men came up short but finished in the following four spots behind first place (Xiong, Caleb Bitting, Spencer Cohen, Kronenwetter). However, the women took first place in the same event as Mottl finished with a time of 31.36. Mottl also placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.99. In the men's 50 freestyle the Mules took the top three spots with Kronenwetter finishing first at 21.69 followed by Allen Zhu and Wu. Then in the 100 freestyle the men took care of the competition again with Rehkopf in first (48.78) and Xiong right behind (49.15). The men continued podium finishes in the 100 backstroke with Bitting placing first (54.85), Cohen in second, and Noam Reinhorn in third.  Onto women's diving, Avery Rappaport took first in the one meter and three meter with a score of 243.60 and 252.15 followed by Monet Meyer in both events with a score of 229 and 235.50. Lastly, Spragg took first in the men's 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.88. 

Two Mules came away setting new pool records at Trinity. Tolan's 50 freestyle (23.89) and Mortimer's 50 butterfly (22.74). Tolan also finished first in the 50 butterfly (27.28). 

Colby Swim will have a nice break before coming back to Mayflower Hill for their Maine Collegiate Invite on December 2nd and 3rd.
