The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior pitcher Meredith Pence (Remington, Va.) has been selected as the GNAC Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Pence was dominant in three appearances in Kissimmee last week, as the senior southpaw went 2-0 with a 0.88 ERA while allowing 14 hits and four walks with 16 strikeouts in 16 innings. She gave up one run on five hits and three walks with 7 K's over seven innings in a 2-1 win over Illinois College on Monday and yielded one earned run off seven hits and a walk with eight punch-outs in a 3-2 triumph over Marian (Wis.) on Thursday. She capped the trip with two scoreless relief innings versus #22 Rochester (N.Y.) on Friday.
In four appearances – including three starts – so far this season, Pence is 3-0 with a 0.61 ERA and 20 strikeouts while allowing 17 hits and eight walks over 23 innings. The 2022 Second Team All-GNAC honoree owns a 17-11 career record with a 2.50 ERA and 174 strikeouts in 193.1 innings. The GNAC weekly award is the first of her collegiate career.
Saint Joseph's is scheduled to host Thomas College in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 26th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
