The University of Maine Cooperative Extension announced on May 15 that it will offer a hands-on workshop, “Plant-Based on a Budget,” for adults interested in preparing affordable plant-based meals. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Androscoggin-Sagadahoc County Extension office located at 24 Main Street in Lisbon Falls.

The workshop aims to help participants learn practical strategies for shopping and meal planning while focusing on nutritious, budget-friendly recipes. Attendees will prepare two dishes using ingredients such as lentils, beans, grains, and seasonal produce. The session emphasizes building skills for creating healthy meals without relying on higher-cost meat substitutes.

Registration costs $10 and supports program expenses. Attendance is limited to six participants, and registration must be completed by Tuesday, May 26 through the Plant-Based on a Budget page. For more information or accommodation requests, individuals can contact Alex Bosse at the provided phone number or email address.

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension has supported community engagement through volunteer programs and educational events that connect people with shared interests according to its official website.
