University of Maine at Presque Isle Three Owls Athletes Earn All-NAC Honors

Congratulations to our Owls Award winners. Emily Wheaton led the way with a First Team All-North Atlantic Conference Award while her teammate Alexis Ireland Earns All-NAC Third Team. On the men’s basketball side, Griffin Guerrette earned All-NAC Second Team honors.
 
Emily Wheaton, the Graduate Student from Presque Isle, Maine. Finishes her UMPI Career with and impressive final year (Conference Stats/Rankings Below). Finishing the year with 502 points, to total her at 929 points in her two year career at UMPI (plus shortened COVID year). Averaging a career 17.2 PPG, while shooting 41.6% and 37.9% from the three and 80.8% from the free throw line.

In This Year’s Conference Play Wheaton Finished:

3rd in the NAC in Scoring with 19.1 PPG
1st in the NAC in 3-PT Percentage Shooting 40.4%
1st in the NAC in Free Throw Percentage at 85.5%
4th in the NAC in Assists per Game at 4.7
6th in the NAC in Field Goal Percentage at 42.1%
 
Alexis Ireland finished her second season with the Owls with another impressive year. The Junior from Howland, Maine earned Honorable Mention the previous year, giving her, her second Post Season Honors in just two years. In her two years, Ireland is currently at 567 career points while shooting 44.8% from the field, averaging 11.8 PPG and averaging 9.6 rebounds per game.

In This Year’s Conference Play Ireland Finished:

12th in the NAC in Scoring with 12.6 PPG
7th in the NAC in Rebounding with 8.6 RPG
5th in the NAC in Free Throw Percentage with 70.3%
3th in the NAC in Steals with 2.6 SPG


Griffin Guerrette, the Graduate Student from Presque Isle, Maine finishes his final year as an Owl, as he officially finishes second all-time in UMPI men’s basketball history in scoring with 1792 career points. This is Guerrette’s third time being awarded for NAC honors, earning Rookie of the year in 2019 and this being his second year in a row on the NAC Second Team. While at UMPI Guerrette averaged 16.4 PPG, shooting 43.1% from the field and 34.1% from the three and 82.8% from the free throw line and starting 99 of his 109 games.

In This Year’s Conference Play Guerrette Finished:

3rd in the NAC in Scoring with 20.7 PPG
1st in the NAC in Free Throw Percentage at 85.9%
8th in the NAC in Steals with 1.9 SPG
3rd in the NAC in Minutes with 35.2 MPG
