The Colby Women's Basketball team wasted no time hopping into the win column after the holiday break, topping the Mount Aloysius Mounties 60-30 in Daytona Beach. Colby jumps to 4-5 with a chance to level their record in Thursday's Sunshine Shootout finale.
The Mules rode a strong first quarter (21 points) to a 31-11 halftime lead. Colby kept the pressure on in the second half, outscoring the Mounties 29-19 in the final 20 minutes. In a flashback of Colby's record-setting performance earlier in the year when the Mules held Colby-Sawyer to 19 total points, the Mules were eyeing their own mark, allowing only 17 points to Mount Aloysius through the first three frames.
Lydia Mordarski paced Colby with a season-high 13 points, chipping in eight rebounds and four steals. Carter McGloon narrowly missed a double-double, claiming nine rebounds and netting eight points. Bray Hunter tallied a season-high nine points in the victory.
Colby is back in action Thursday against Emmanuel College before returning to Mayflower Hill for the new year.
