The Maine Department of Transportation is launching a project to replace the Cromwell Brook Bridge in Bar Harbor. The bridge on Ledgelawn Avenue/Great Meadow Drive spans Cromwell Brook, about 0.03 miles north of White Spruce Road.
The initial stage of the project, which involves site clearing, will begin in early April. This phase is crucial for setting up a temporary detour. The detour will have one lane with alternating traffic and a sidewalk to support both vehicles and pedestrians, and it will remain in place for the entire duration of the project.
Construction of the new bridge is scheduled to start on June 2, 2025, and is projected to be completed by the fall of 2026. Work will be conducted from Monday to Friday, between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. There will be no construction activity over the weekends. During the construction period, there will be a lane width restriction of 12 feet.
This project is being undertaken by T-Buck Construction of Turner with a contract amount of approximately $2.5 million.
