The UMPI Owls Women's Basketball Team recently swept a pair of North Atlantic Conference games against Western Division Cazenovia College and SUNY Poly Technic Institute.
In Friday's weekend opener, both teams got off to a slow start offensively with UMPI leading at the end of the low scoring quarter 9 to 3. Early in the 2nd Quarter Chantel jumper on a feed from Aleia Milano and a Marina Crespi drive and score out the Owls up 13 to 5. A 3 pointer by Milano on an assist from Lauren Magno, a 3 pointer by Williams on a dish from Crespi and an offensive rebound and score for Lexi Irleand increased the lead to 21 to 5 and the Owls wouldn't look back from there.
Four Owls scored in double-digits led by Williams with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Milano with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, Emily Wheaton scored 12 points and had 4 assists while Lexi Ireland recorded 10 points, 7 rebounds and had 3 steals. UMPI improved their record to (7-6 and 2-2 in the NAC). For the Wildcats of Cazenovia (1-14 and 0-5 NAC), Fiona Hunt scored 11 points and pulled down 8 rebounds and Mackenzie Bennett added 9 points.
