Maine Maritime Academy Mariners Sit in First Place After Day One of NAC Championship

Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming and diving sits in first place, with a team score of 311, after day one of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) swimming and diving championship held on the campus of Cazenovia College.


Day One Highlights

  • Relay team of Liza Zhukov (Barrington, R.I.), Megan Durrua (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.), Rayelle Brewer (Cheyenne, Wyo.), and Natasha Kopeck (Manchester Center, Vt.) finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:25.01
  • Brewer won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.05
  • Zhukov finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:27.38
  • Durrua and Sage Dentremont (Swan's Island, Maine) placed first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:17.46 and 1:18.55
  • Kopeck finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.54
  • Kopeck placed third in the 1 meter dive with a score of 314.50
  • Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:41.22
  • Zhukov won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.42
  • Durrua won the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:07.24, while Tamra Miller (South Thomaston, Maien) finished third with a time of 1:15.11
  • Relay team of Brewer, Durrua, Kopeck, and Zhukov won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time 1:46.24 
Up Next: The Mariners return to action tomorrow as they compete in day two of the NAC Championship. Prelims start at 10:00 am and finals start at 4:00 pm.
