Congressman Jared Golden, representing Maine's 2nd district, has recently shared insights on the impact of legislative measures on his state's economy and defense sector. Golden, who has been serving in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bruce Poliquin, emphasized the significance of federal support for local industries and military infrastructure.
On December 11, 2024, Congressman Golden highlighted his efforts to secure financial backing for manufacturing and research initiatives in Maine. He stated, "I’m equally proud to have fought for millions of dollars to support manufacturing and research across Maine’s public and private sectors, such as UMaine's development of more resilient soil for military construction and power projection."
In another tweet from the same day, Golden addressed the economic benefits stemming from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). He noted that "The NDAA is also a major catalyst for Maine’s production economy and this deal doubles down on that investment. The additional destroyer will sustain years of jobs for the workers at BIW and reaffirm Bath's critical role in our national defense."
Further emphasizing bipartisan achievements through the NDAA, Golden remarked on its implications for national security and troop welfare. On December 11, he tweeted, "I'm proud we passed another bipartisan NDAA that keeps America safe and our servicemembers taken care of. Securing the largest pay raise for junior-enlisted troops in generations is a major victory."
