The Maine Department of Labor (MDOL) is organizing a series of webinars throughout October to inform both employers and employees about the new Paid Family & Medical Leave law. The initiative includes four webinars, two aimed at employers and two designed for employees.

For employers, MDOL has scheduled sessions that will cover "an overview of the law’s provisions, information on premium amounts, timing of benefits, wage reporting, and how to use the new online portal launching this winter for remitting payments," according to an MDOL press release. These sessions will conclude with a Q&A segment to address questions from attendees. One of these employer-focused webinars is in collaboration with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and is set for October 16th.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is collaborating with MDOL on another employer-focused webinar scheduled for October 23rd from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Interested participants can register through the provided link: https://mainestate.zoom.us/webinar/register/WNCtN8pXnrRZecww1EZ17JQ#/registration.

For employees, MDOL has planned webinars on October 15th and 22nd that will focus on "eligibility requirements, job protections, premium amounts and timing, and the timing and portability of benefits." These sessions will also include a Q&A portion for attendees.

Further details including dates, times, and registration links are available at www.maine.gov/labor/news_events/article.shtml?id=13070004. Additional information about the law can be found on MDOL's dedicated website: www.maine.gov/paidleave/.
