Pair of SJC Indoor Track & Field Athletes Earn GNAC Honors | Saint Joseph's College of Maine
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College indoor track & field athletes have earned accolades.
Junior Aaliyah WilsonFalcone (Winthrop, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week and freshman Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) is the GNAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
WilsonFalcone won the Triple Jump - and shattered the Monks' record - with a 10.68m effort, was fourth in the 55-Meter hurdles (9.66) and placed sixth in the Shot Put (9.79m) in her collegiate track & field debut at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. She qualified for New England's in the Triple Jump.
Abukar won the 200-Meter dash with a program-record 22.89 time, placed third in the 55-Meter dash (6.75), and ran a leg for the Monks' winning Sprint Medley relay (3:52.59) at USM on Saturday. The freshman qualified for New England's with his 200 time.
Saint Joseph's will compete at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, January 7th.
