Congressman Jared Golden, representing Maine's 2nd district since 2019, recently shared his views on economic and healthcare challenges via a series of tweets. Golden has been vocal about issues affecting working people and veterans.

On March 4, 2025, Golden acknowledged the difficulties in overturning longstanding free-trade policies. He stated, "It was never going to be easy or painless to overturn decades of free-trade policies that have failed working people, but we have to think in years, not days."

In another tweet on the same day, he discussed the implications of rising goods prices. Golden suggested that such increases might be justified if they lead to stronger American production and a shift towards prioritizing domestic markets. He wrote, "But if the price of goods is rising to facilitate the reinvigoration of American production and a transition to an economy that prioritizes domestic goods and markets, that’s a tradeoff we should consider."

Later that day, Golden addressed concerns regarding layoffs at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He expressed worry over how these layoffs could impact veteran healthcare services. In his tweet, he urged for clarity from the administration: "Across-the-board layoffs at the VA threaten an already overstrained health care system for veterans. I’m calling on the administration to provide an immediate explanation of these moves and answers about the future of care for veterans."
