The Maine Department of Transportation is undertaking the reconstruction of a section of Route 109 in Acton. The reconstruction project, spanning from 0.60 miles southeast of Sam Page Road to the New Hampshire State border, covers a stretch of 2.21 miles. It involves significant road reconstruction and rehabilitation, which includes improvements in drainage and safety measures.

The project is set to enhance Route 109 by adding three-foot, paved shoulders along the reconstructed area. Additionally, a large culvert will be constructed where the main tributary to Wilson Lake intersects with Route 109. Construction activities commenced in December 2024.

Traffic during the construction will be limited to a single lane that operates with alternating traffic flow from sunrise to sunset on weekdays, with some work taking place on Saturdays. The completion of the project is anticipated for November this year.

The project is contracted to RJ Grondin & Sons from Gorham, with a contract valued at $6.3 million.
