Congressman Jared Golden, currently serving Maine's 2nd District since 2019, has recently expressed his views on a variety of political issues through a series of tweets.

On April 8, 2025, Golden discussed the complexity of tariff policies, emphasizing the need for a more nuanced conversation beyond simplistic soundbites. He invited the public to listen to his conversation with Matthew Gagnon regarding tariffs, tradeoffs, and values in his tweet: "The tariff conversation deserves more than soundbites."

Two days later, on April 10, Golden conveyed his disapproval of the GOP budget resolution, citing its fiscal imprudence and adverse effects on healthcare. In his tweet, he stated, "I just voted against the reckless, deficit-funded GOP budget resolution," comparing the plan to building "a good house with rotten wood."

Also on April 10, Golden addressed concerns surrounding the SAVE Act and defended his support for it. He highlighted the importance of requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration. Golden's tweet stated: "I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense."

Jared Golden was born in 1982 in Lewiston, Maine, and has been an active political figure since his time in the Maine House of Representatives between 2014 and 2018. He holds a BA from Bates College and resides in his hometown of Lewiston.
