Catholic Vote President Brian Burch said a recent decision in Maine showed that Democrats “want their state to provide abortions and dangerous and life-wrecking 'transgender' surgeries” to minors.
"Democrats everywhere wish their state could be like the state of Maine, where the Democratic Party's rule is so strong they want their state to provide abortions and dangerous and life-wrecking 'transgender' surgeries for those who are under-age and incapable of granting legal consent,” Burch told Pine State News.
Madeline Leesman from Townhall.com reported that a bill was passed by Maine Democrats “that would protect doctors who provide abortions and so-called 'gender-affirming' care to minors from facing lawsuits.” The bill, LD227, would protect individuals who offer or aid medical services that are illegal in other states, such as abortion or gender reassignment operations.
Fox News said the bill passed in Maine was “part of a broader effort nationwide by blue state lawmakers to shield medical providers performing abortions or transgender surgical procedures on minors who do not have full parental support.” There are over a dozen state with similar laws in place to protect providers performing abortions.
The legislation also would "prohibit 'interference' with abortion or sex change procedures, legally protect medical workers from facing lawsuits and could potentially permit concealment of medical records from plaintiffs seeking legal action against a provider.”
Madison, Wisconsin-based Catholic Vote is an advocacy organization that wants to “inspire every Catholic in America to live out the truths of our faith in public life,” according to the group’s website. Founded in 2008, its president is Brian Burch.
