Congressman Jared Golden, representing Maine's 2nd district, recently shared his views on several pressing issues via social media. Golden, who has been in office since 2019 and previously served in the Maine House of Representatives, addressed concerns regarding federal assistance and highlighted local initiatives supporting agriculture and nutrition.
On January 28, 2025, Congressman Golden expressed his concerns over a presidential decision affecting federal aid. "My office has been fielding calls all day from Mainers concerned about the president’s freeze on federal assistance & grants that were approved by Congress and awarded to Maine organizations and businesses. I share their concern, and the president should release those funds."
In another post on the same day, Golden discussed bipartisan efforts in Congress to manage federal spending. He criticized executive actions taken by President Trump as lacking clarity. "Congress has worked across party lines to reduce federal spending with the Fiscal Responsibility Act. Trump has a willing partner in Congress to address spending. That, not vague and questionable executive action, is the route he should take. I'll be the first to take his call."
On January 30, 2025, Golden praised local schools for their use of locally sourced foods through partnerships with organizations like Full Plates Full Potential and USDA. "Lewiston-Auburn area schools are serving local foods like Maine potatoes and haddock thanks to their partnership with @FullPlatesMaine and @USDA. This is place-based politics at work, supporting local agriculture while ensuring good nutrition for students. Win-win."
