The Maine Department of Transportation will undertake emergency repairs on the I-95 bridges over Broadway in Bangor. Broadway will be closed to all traffic from Monday, April 14th, between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
The closure is necessary due to damage to the I-95 bridge rail on Thursday, April 10th. Although I-95 traffic will not be affected, motorists will be redirected using a detour. Northbound vehicles will exit at 186 and proceed to Broadway via Stillwater Avenue. Southbound traffic will take Exit 184, then proceed to Broadway via Union St., Hammond St., and Stage St. Message boards will inform motorists of the closure, while flaggers will assist pedestrian movement at the site.
The current on-site work began in June 2023 as part of a multi-year project aimed at bridge replacements and intersection improvements. The initiative is expected to be completed by late 2026.
