The Maine Department of Transportation has announced plans for paving and pedestrian safety improvements in Auburn. The project will focus on areas including Center Street, Court Street, Rotary Street, Washington Street, and Minot Avenue.

The improvements include bringing sidewalk curbs into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project areas, though intermittent lane closures may occur as construction progresses. Sidewalks will also be closed as needed, with detours provided for pedestrians.

The project is set to begin on Monday, April 21, and is expected to conclude in November. Initially, work will occur during the day, switching to nighttime operations in mid-June. The contractor for this project is Northeast Paving, based in Bangor, with a contract valued at approximately $6.8 million.
