Congressman Jared Golden, representing Maine's 2nd district since 2019, has recently made statements via social media regarding legislative initiatives and national security concerns. His background includes service in the Maine House of Representatives from 2014 to 2018 and a degree from Bates College.
On March 24, 2025, Congressman Golden announced his efforts to reintroduce legislation aimed at designating the Maine Forest and Logging Museum in Bradley as the National Museum of Forestry and Logging History. He emphasized the importance of this initiative by stating: "Our working forests represent a proud tradition of honest work in rural communities. That’s why I've reintroduced my bill to designate the Maine Forest and Logging Museum in Bradley as the National Museum and Forestry and Logging History."
Later that day, he expressed concerns over handling sensitive information by government officials. He drew parallels with military standards by asserting: "If a service member acted this carelessly with such sensitive information they would face serious consequences, including the potential loss of security clearance, court martial or discharge. These officials should be held to the same high standard."
In another post on March 24, he addressed issues related to national security communications practices following an incident involving a journalist. Golden remarked: "We’re lucky the journalist involved acted responsibly, but this incident raises questions about communications practices at the highest levels of the national security apparatus."
